Theological Executive Leadership Programme Launch

First published on: 30th May 2024

TELP is USPG’s new Theological Executive Leadership Programme, a paradigm-shifting leadership initiative equipping 15 nominated leaders from theological education institutions, across the Anglican provinces in Africa. It is a 12-week course comprising online classes and two one-week residentials at the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The course will run from August to November 2024.

It will equip leaders with the relevant skills and knowledge to become agents of change in their institutions.

The Revd Canon Dr Peniel Rajkumar, Theologian and Director of Global Mission, USPG said;

‘In contexts where there is immense strain on leaders of Theological Education Institutions to ensure institutional sustainability, we hope that the Executive Leadership Programme will equip our leaders to cultivate a vision for growth that combines institutional effectiveness with innovation, and financial freedom with faithful witness that is confident, creative and courageous. We are excited by the transformative potential of this programme and look forward to its fruits with great anticipation.’

Following the summit on The Future of Theological Education in Africa held in Botswana in November 2022, participants agreed that it was important to ensure that all those called to leadership, management and governance roles are equipped effectively for the task. USPG, in collaboration with the Post-Botswana Future of Theological Education Delivery Working Group and the Nelson Mandela University Business School (NMU), has developed TELP.
