Introduction to Mission Engagement

The Mission Engagement Team seeks to make the riches of the global Church available to the churches of Britain and Ireland, and to assist them to articulate their discipleship and mission as members of a worldwide Communion. We do this through USPG’s three strategic priorities:

Rethinking Mission. We run an annual one-day conference, ’Rethinking Mission’, to encourage church leaders in Britain and Ireland to engage with global theologians and to reflect learning into their own praxis. We also offer short courses on global mission as part of Initial Ministerial Education (IME) I and II and Continuing Ministerial Development (CMD).

Energising Church and community. USPG offers speakers to churches and communities to inspire interest in global mission across the UK. We engage with diocesan events, conferences and synods, and as well with national events such as The Big Church Day Out and the Greenbelt Festival. We produce a regular Prayer Diary and a supporter magazine, Koinonia.

Championing justice. USPG promotes our global partners priorities for justice, particularly climate justice. We have produced a guide book, Faith in a changing climate, and through our partners Hope for the Future, encourage church communities to actively engage with their MPs.

The Mission Engagement Team consists of six staff members, who rely heavily on a range of volunteers spread across the country, connecting with dioceses, parishes and communities in order to fulfil this brief.
