USPG is delighted to announce the appointment of The Rev’d Dr Peniel Rajkumar as Global Theologian in a unique position that seeks to further the agency’s theological engagement with the world Church. Peniel will join USPG in July 2021 with a wealth of experience in facilitating ecumenical relationships as Programme Coordinator for Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation at the World Council of Churches. He has held teaching positions at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey and the United Theological College in Bangalore, and has written extensively on Dalit theology, missiology and interfaith dialogue.

The Rev’d Duncan Dormor, USPG General Secretary said, ‘I am delighted to be welcoming the Rev’d Dr Peniel Rajkumar to USPG as our Global Theologian. Peniel has an outstanding reputation as a theologian and mission practitioner. He has made important contributions to the understanding of mission today and initiated key interfaith dialogues on behalf of the WCC. In an era of uncertainty and challenge, he will help USPG, as we seek to reimagine an Anglican theology which is genuinely global in its vision and scope. ‘

The Rev’d Dr Rajkumar said, ‘It is so important for churches and theological institutions to have justice at the heart of their mission whilst also recognising the nuances of the post-colonial world we live in. I’m very excited by this opportunity to engage with a diverse range of churches across the world’.

Peniel will all also serve on the staff at Ripon College, Cuddesdon as an Associate Tutor.
