Update: January 2026
In September 2025, severe monsoon rains caused catastrophic flooding across Punjab, Pakistan, affecting districts including Kasur, Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad. Many homes were destroyed, rooftops washed away, crops and livestock lost, and families displaced with limited access to clean water, food, or shelter.
In response, the Church of Pakistan, in partnership with the United Society Partners in the Gospel (USPG), launched an emergency relief project to support the most vulnerable communities. The Diocese of Raiwind conducted an initial survey in and around the Ganda Singh Border area. These surveys identified urgent needs including food, water, medical care, and temporary shelter.
The first relief activity, carried out in early September, provided cooked meals, ration packs, clean drinking water, and tents for displaced families. A medical camp in District Kasur, offered free check-ups and essential medicines, addressing waterborne illnesses and other health issues caused by contaminated floodwater.
The Most Revd Dr Azad Marshall, Moderator of the Church of Pakistan and other members, visited affected areas to pray with families, offering comfort, solidarity, and hope during a time of great hardship.
In late 2025, the Church of Pakistan extended its relief work to additional flood-affected communities. Families received essential supplies such as ration packs, blankets, flour, and clean water, helping them meet their immediate needs and recover from the devastation. These distributions, carried out in partnership with USPG, provided not only material support but also encouragement and hope during the festive season, reinforcing the Church’s ongoing commitment to compassionate service.
Through timely interventions, holistic care, and collaboration the Church of Pakistan has provided life-saving support and hope to communities devastated by the floods, demonstrating faith in action during one of Punjab’s most challenging natural disasters.

Loving God, as communities continue to recover from the floods, we pray for strength, healing, and renewed hope. Bless those still in need, guide those who support them, and inspire us all to act with compassion and love in the year ahead.

“As Pakistan endures one of the most destructive seasons in recent memory. We invite you to join us in prayer and action.
Since June of this year the nation has been ravaged by a relentless monsoon. Flash floods, overflowing rivers and landslides have devastated homes and livelihoods. More than 805 people have died and thousands injured in the carnage. Entire families killed in this devastation (confirmed by the National Disaster Management Authority). Some bodies will take a long time to find as rescue workers make their way through the wreckage of destroyed homes and disrupted lives. Roads and bridges across the country lie in ruins. The urgency continues as warnings go out that flood waters from Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej continue to overflow toward the Indus, risking wider inundation, through August and beyond.
At this time, I urge you to join us in crying out to God for Pakistan, particularly those severely affected at this time, the frailest, the most vulnerable: homeless, grieving and lost. As the flood waters spread out and drown vast parts of the country, we are reminded that God is with us. May your prayers spread out like a vast tent, covering the nation. The struggle will continue as we try once again to recover from the damage and move towards restoration.
As I urge you to pray, I ask you to remember the rescue services and those in positions of authority and governance as they strive day and night to serve those who are affected. We are blessed by brave first responders, aid workers, pastoral care teams across the land. May God grant wisdom and a heart of compassion to our leaders as they help us navigate these troubled waters.”

Gracious God, we lift Pakistan to you amidst devastating floods. Protect the frail, homeless, and grieving. May your presence bring hope, shelter, and restoration to all affected.
Loving God, we pray too for our partner, the Church of Pakistan, and for The Most Rev Dr Azad Marshall. Be their hope and strength. Grant wisdom, courage, and compassion to the leaders, aid teams, and pastoral workers, at this dark time. Be present by your Spirit.
