HIGHLIGHTS
Theological Education Leadership Programme (TELP)
USPG facilitate TELP, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela University Business School (NMU). It is a 12-week course which aims to empower leaders from theological education institutions across Africa with vital skills to drive change.
Mji Mwema Micro-City
Why leave a legacy? USPG, through the Elra Lloyds Legacy Fund, has proven why by supporting the Mji Mwema Micro-City in Njombe, Tanzania. The project to build a hostel and retail centre aims to generate income for the Diocese of South West Tanganyika, helping them to achieve long-term sustainability.
Waste Smart, We Care
USPG partners with the Church of the Province of Central Africa, the Anglican Church of the Indian Ocean and the Anglican Church of Tanzania on a Provincial Climate Change Campaign. The aim is to increase understanding of climate issues, encourage sustainable waste practices, and inspire us all to be better stewards of the environment.
USPG IN Africa
USPG has long and cherished relationships with churches across Africa dating back to 1752 when missionaries first arrived in Ghana. Today, we continue to support new growth in the region including the Igreja Anglicana de Moçambique e Angola – the newest province of the Anglican Communion. Historic Ordination of Women to the Priesthood in Diocese of Botswana

In a historic first, the Anglican Diocese of Botswana has ordained 14 women to the priesthood at a joyful service on Sunday 17 May 2026 at Holy Cross Cathedral in Gaborone. This also marks the first such ordinations within the Anglican Church of the Province of Central Africa, comprised of Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi. The ceremony was conducted by the Rt Revd Metlhayotlhe Beleme, Bishop of Botswana, who described the occasion as a “milestone” in the growth of the church.Also in attendance was the First Lady of South Africa, Dr Tshepo Motsepe, along with several distinguished bishops and representatives from across the Anglican Communion including link dioceses in North Carolina, USA and Newcastle, UK.
