Meet the Emerging Leaders 2025!
In partnership with the Anglican Communion Youth Network (ACYN), USPG is delighted to launch the second year of the Emerging Leaders Academy. Following a successful first year in Japan, this year’s three-week residential moves to Limuru, Kenya. From 30 August to 20 September, participants from Brazil, Ghana, New Zealand, Myanmar and beyond have gathered for a unique opportunity to learn and grow together.
The ELA is a year-long programme designed to nurture and equip young leaders across the Anglican Communion. It includes a welcome session, a residential portion, supplemented by one-to-one mentoring and monthly online gatherings to encourage ongoing connection, learning and reflection. For the residential in Kenya, the participants will engage in discipleship, prayer, leadership development, and conversations around contextual theology and cross-cultural ministry.

In the classroom, the group will engage in practical workshops on conflict management, coaching, and active listening – key skills for the future. Guest speakers will include Dr Julius Kithinji from St Paul’s Theological College, and Professor Esther Mombo, a leading feminist theologian who will offer reflections on justice and inclusive leadership.
To supplement the course, the group will join local church services in the Diocese of Thika and engage with the community in Kibera, an immersion visit facilitated by the Centre for Urban Mission. Here, opportunities to mentor schoolchildren, visit youth-led businesses, and join creative workshops with local artists will help bring the local context to life and offer a chance to see faith and leadership in action.

From the urban ministry of Kibera to classroom studies at ACK St Julian’s, it will be great to see how students bring the learning to life – making their education more immediate, relevant, and transformative.
