USPG & Romania

The Diocese in Europe stretches from Norway to Morocco and Portugal to Russia which makes it the largest diocese in the Church of England in terms of geography. It also encompasses incredible diversity and is compelled to promote a sense of belonging together ensuring that all people are welcome.

USPG works in close collaboration with the Diocese in Europe giving particular focus to projects that support the settlement of refugees and asylum-seekers. Here’s an insight into the refugee-centred projects that USPG currently supports in Romania, a country that has welcomed many Ukrainians since the onset of war.

Ukraine Aid

Through the Diocese in Europe, USPG supports the Church of the Resurrection in Bucharest and their outreach work to migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. This programme addresses the immediate needs of refugees by providing weekly food distribution, clothing, medicines, and baby products. It also supports education by supplying school resources, and long-term aid such as job assistance through networks and skill-building (e.g. English language courses) for individuals and families who have recently moved to Romania.

Two years on: Pray for Ukraine

On 24th February 2022, the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began. Two years on, the people of Ukraine continue to need our prayers and our support.
