Our Partners
As a leading global mission agency at the heart of the Anglican Communion, USPG serves as a key partner and facilitator for mission thought and practice among member churches. Our work is expressed through our three strategic aims—Rethinking Mission, Energising Church, and Championing Justice—which encompass theological education, church health and leadership, and advocating for justice in areas such as race, gender, climate, and economic equity.
Whilst some of our partnerships involve the funding of specific programmes, all of them are built on mutual support, encouragement and shared knowledge as we work together for God’s mission.

The joint Diocese in Europe and USPG appeal for Ukraine raised over £400,000 in 2022. The appeal has enabled a deepening of ecumenical partnership with some support going towards the humanitarian response of Caritas and the Lutheran World Federation. The rest of the proceeds supported chaplaincies in countries within Eastern Europe – namely Latvia, Finland, Poland, Hungary and Romania – enabling them to provide support for people displaced by the war.

Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world with a population of over 170 million. It is known for its tropical monsoon climate which brings heavy rainfall, high temperatures, and humidity. The Padma (Ganges), Meghna and Jamuna rivers flow through the country and are home to huge mangrove forests.

The Province of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui (HKSKH) was established in 1998. It comprises three dioceses: Hong Kong Island, Eastern Kowloon and Western Kowloon, and the missionary area of Macau. The HKSKH has a network of churches, schools and social centres. Education and social welfare remain distinctive features of the church’s mission. Hong Kong was the Anglican pioneer of women’s ordination, ordaining the first four women.

The Nippon Sei Ko Kai (NSKK), the Anglican Church in Japan, became a province of the Anglican Communion in 1930. The dioceses span the length of the country from Northeast to Southwest.
JapanJerusalem & the Middle East
The Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East encompasses the Diocese of Jerusalem (covering Israel, Palestinian territories, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon), the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf (covering Cyprus, the Arabian Peninsula and Iraq) and the Diocese of Iran.
Jerusalem & the Middle EastMyanmar
Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a country in South East Asia that shares border with China, India, Bangladesh, Thailand and Laos. Since the military coup in 2021 that overthrew Myanmar’s democratically elected government, the country has faced a severe humanitarian crisis. Despite political uncertainty and restrictions, the Church continues to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ. Since 1854, the relationship has been strengthened between USPG and The Church of the Province of Myanmar through mission, education, healthcare, and leadership development initiatives.

The Church of Pakistan is a united Protestant Church founded in 1970. USPG has partnered with the Church of Pakistan on theological education and leadership training.

The Philippines is an archipelago in Southeast Asia consisting of over 7,600 islands and a population of around 113 million people. Of this number, the Lumad form part of the estimated 10 to 20 million Indigenous people living in the Philippines. Its diverse geography includes mountains, rainforests, and coastal areas, with a tropical climate and rich biodiversity.

The Church of North India (CNI) is the main united church in northern India, formed in 1970 through a merger of several Protestant denominations. It is part of the Anglican Communion serves most of India’s 28 states except the southern five, and has about 2.2 million members across 4600 congregations. The CNI is committed to announce the Good of News of God’s reign, and to restore the integrity of God’s creation through continuous struggle against evil by breaking down barriers of caste, class, gender, economic inequality, and abuse of nature.

The Church of South India (CSI) is a united and uniting Church, vibrant and prophetic with ministries among children, women, youth, education, healing, Dalit & Adivasi, environment, evangelism, and leadership development. It has a remarkable ministry on environment protection and promoting rights of the Dalit & marginalised communities.
South IndiaSouth Korea
The partnership between USPG and the Anglican Church of Korea is rooted in a shared commitment to theological education. Although the Anglican Church of Korea is self-sustaining, this relationship remains an important part of both organisations’ work in strengthening theological training for example through the Sungkonghoe University, founded by the Anglican Communion in 1914.
South KoreaSri Lanka
The Church of Ceylon (Sinhala: ලංකා සභාව) is the Anglican Church in Sri Lanka and comprises of two main dioceses: Colombo and Kurunegala. It is mostly known for fields of tea in the Hill Country. However, the Malaiyaha community, made up of Tamil inhabitants brought from India to modern day Sri Lanka, to work in the tea fields have long been the subject of a fierce struggle for rights and against exploitation. The Anglican Church is therefore committed to bring hope and healing to the Malaiyaha community as a way of sharing God’s love.

The Church of the Province of West Africa (CPWA) covers 17 dioceses in eight countries of West Africa. It is divided into the Internal Province of Ghana and the Internal Province of West Africa which comprises Cameroon, Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. USPG accompanies the CPWA in the implementation of their strategic plans, theological education, healthcare, and economic empowerment programmes for young people.

The Anglican Church of Kenya is a province of the Anglican Communion, and it is composed by 41 dioceses and around 5 million members.

The Church of the Province of Central Africa is part of the Anglican Communion, and includes 15 dioceses in Botswana, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. USPG is a long-term partner of the Anglican Church in Malawi, providing support for leadership training, as well as healthcare and community integrated programmes.
MalawiMozambique & Angola
In 2021 a Portuguese Speaking Province in Southern Africa – composed of the Anglican Church of Mozambique and Angola – was approved by the ACC and Primates of the Anglican Communion. This was carved out of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA). This included the significant increase in the number of Diocese within the new Province and other costs associated with establishing the functionality of the Igreja Anglicana de Mocambique e Angola (IAMA).
Mozambique & AngolaSouthern Africa
The Anglican Church of Southern Africa is comprised of South Africa (as well as the islands of St. Helena and Tristan da Cunha), Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini. USPG accompanies the Church in leadership, theological education, and Church and Community mobilisation in Eswatini and Zululand.
Southern AfricaTanzania
The Anglican Church of Tanzania is a province of the Anglican Communion based in Dodoma and consists of 28 dioceses (27 on the Tanzanian mainland, and 1 on Zanzibar). USPG supports its vision is to be a sustainable Church working together effectively for the growth of God’s Kingdom.

The Church of the Province of Central Africa is part of the Anglican Communion, and includes 15 dioceses in Botswana, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. USPG is a long-term partner of the Anglican Church in Zambia, facilitating exchanges of clergy, providing support for leadership training, as well as programmes with a focus on gender and climate justice.

The Church of the Province of Central Africa is part of the Anglican Communion, and includes 15 dioceses in Botswana, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. USPG is a long-term partner of the Anglican Church in Zimbabwe, particularly in supporting initiatives to reduce HIV stigma and discrimination.

The island is mostly flat, though it features Mount Hillaby, which rises to 336 meters through terraced plateaus. Coral reefs encircle the island.

Although a culturally Christian country, Brazil has seen an ascent of political and religious fundamentalisms in the last few years. The rise of moralistic strict views has caused the reduction of protection and the increase of violence, particularly against girls, women and LGBTQIAP+ people. Recent governments and the effects of climate change have also exacerbated deforestation and displacement of Indigenous peoples and traditional communities from their ancestral lands.

Canada is a vast country stretching around 7500km from east to west. The Anglican Church of Canada has around 1500 parishes and over 1 million members, making it the third-largest Christian denomination in Canada, after the Catholic Church and the United Church of Canada.

The vast geography of Oceania presents unique opportunities for USPG’s work across the region. We are connected to the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia; The Anglican Church of Melanesia; of Papua New Guinea and of Australia.
OceaniaExchanging Places
People, and the movement of people in mission, continue to be at the heart of USPG’s work. Exchanging Places aims to maintain the richness and value of deep cross-cultural encounter and overseas service but through an ‘all places to all places’ ethos which also offers a decolonial model to counter historic patterns.
Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA)
USPG has long invested in people during points of formation. In partnership with the Anglican Communion Youth Network (ACYN), the first meeting of the Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA) took place in Japan with participants from Papua New Guinea to Romania.
Asia Theological Accompaniment Programme (ATAP)
USPG facilitate the ATAP, bringing together Deans and Principals of Theological Institutions in Asia to exchange expertise and experience in order to strengthen institutional capacity, resilience and increases collaboration and resource-sharing.
Waste Smart, We Care
USPG partners with the Church of the Province of Central Africa, the Anglican Church of the Indian Ocean and the Anglican Church of Tanzania on a Provincial Climate Change Campaign. The aim is to increase understanding of climate issues, encourage sustainable waste practices, and inspire us all to be better stewards of the environment.
Theological Executive Leadership Programme (TELP)
USPG facilitate TELP, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela University Business School (NMU). It is a 12-week course which aims to empower leaders from theological education institutions across Africa with vital skills to drive change.
Indigenous Theologies
We participate in a journey of reconciliation, accompanying Indigenous communities as they seek visibility within the Anglican Communion and Body of Christ. This is being achieved through a collaboration between the Anglican Church of Canada, Igreja Episcopal Anglicana do Brasil and churches across Oceania.
Renewing the Life of the Earth
With the Anglican Communion Environmental Network, we participate in panels and teaching programmes focused on Eco-Theology and Ethics for use in Theological Institutions across the Anglican Communion. We also have a range of sermon notes to resource and support preachers and church leaders to integrate care of creation, ecological justice and sustainability into their sermons.
Triangle of Hope
The Triangle of Hope is an international partnership between the Dioceses of Kumasi, Liverpool, and Virginia focused on transforming the legacy of slavery and racism within and outside of the structures of the church, to relationships which build hope by challenging those things which destroy and divide us.
International Consultation
Held once every three years, the International Consultation provides an opportunity for provinces and churches with which USPG holds long-standing relationships to come together, reflect on their priorities and speak into our broader thinking, strategy and priorities so that it is better equipped to accompany churches as they discern God’s mission. The Consultation often has a thematic focus that is decided by CWAG and is relevant to the life of the host Church.
Fellowship of Anglican Scholars of Theology
Or simply, FeAST, is a global forum to resource the Anglican Communion in the vocation of theological research and education from a standpoint of mutual learning. We host webinars, conferences as well as share access to and opportunities for networking, academic publishing, and participation in global academic forums.
