En mis veinte a\u00f1os de ministerio, he estado en numerosos retiros y conferencias de cl\u00e9rigos en centros muy variados. Sin embargo, puedo decir con seguridad que el retiro del clero y sus c\u00f3nyuges para la Provincia de Jerusal\u00e9n y el Medio Oriente no se parece en nada a ninguno en el que haya estado antes. La primera y m\u00e1s notable diferencia era que este \u00abretiro\u00bb estaba en un hotel de cuatro estrellas situado a orillas del Mar Muerto en Jordania. Comparado con la sencilla celda del centro de retiros de Northampton o con las viejas y fr\u00edas piedras del Priorato de Burford, esto era algo mucho m\u00e1s grandioso. El Mar Muerto tambi\u00e9n ofrec\u00eda los escenarios m\u00e1s dram\u00e1ticos imaginables. Sin embargo, esto era un retiro y no unas vacaciones, por lo que pasamos bastante tiempo en una sala de conferencias para conferencias y muchos actos de adoraci\u00f3n que parec\u00edan haber tenido lugar en cualquier parte del mundo, incluso en Northampton. Los participantes tambi\u00e9n fueron sorprendentes e inspiradores. Nuestra provincia de Jerusal\u00e9n y Oriente Medio cubre un \u00e1rea enorme e incluye los pa\u00edses de Palestina, Israel, L\u00edbano, Jordania y Siria, cubre el norte y el sur de Chipre, los pa\u00edses del Golfo de Emiratos \u00c1rabes Unidos, Bahr\u00e9in, Kuwait, Qatar y otros. Adem\u00e1s, la provincia abarca Ir\u00e1n e Irak. Asistieron cl\u00e9rigos anglicanos y sus c\u00f3nyuges de todos estos pa\u00edses, excepto Ir\u00e1n. Es dif\u00edcil transmitir los diversos ministerios de todos estos pa\u00edses. Se sinti\u00f3 como un privilegio estar en la misma sala y compartir las historias de los desaf\u00edos del ministerio en cada lugar y las alegr\u00edas expresadas una y otra vez en la forma en que el amor de Cristo se expresaba en palabras y obras. La luz de Cristo se est\u00e1 encendiendo de muchas maneras inusuales y alentadoras a pesar de las circunstancias a menudo poco prometedoras. Afortunadamente, escapamos de la oscura sala de conferencias en varias ocasiones y tuvimos algunas experiencias incre\u00edbles. Covid me hab\u00eda impedido visitar Jordania en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, por lo que fue mi primera oportunidad de visitar algunos de los lugares sagrados e hist\u00f3ricos. Conducimos por un camino empinado y sinuoso hasta el Monte Nebo para obtener esa extraordinaria visi\u00f3n general descrita en el libro de Deuteronomio. Mois\u00e9s ve la Tierra Prometida, pero Dios le dice que no puede entrar debido a su fracaso de liderazgo en el desierto. Una hermosaiglesia del siglo<\/sup> IV recientemente restaurada era impresionante, casi tanto como los panoramas que la rodean. A continuaci\u00f3n, recorrimos la corta distancia hasta la ciudad de Madaba, donde se han descubierto numerosas iglesias bizantinas. La principal de ellas es la Iglesia de San Jorge, que contiene el mundialmente famoso Mapa de Madaba, un mosaico de suelo de las Tierras Santas. Es el mapa m\u00e1s antiguo conocido de la regi\u00f3n y ha sido un recurso importante para descubrir sitios perdidos. Pero m\u00e1s que los sitios, es la gente que recordar\u00e9 y las historias compartidas. Rezamos juntos y nos escuchamos unos a otros. Me proporcion\u00f3 un sentido extraordinario de las formas en que Dios est\u00e1 equipando a la Iglesia con los medios para responder a los desaf\u00edos de este momento. Simplemente debemos estar abiertos y listos para servir. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n
