Me inform\u00f3 que mi obispo hab\u00eda decidido patrocinarme para entrenarme para ser sacerdote. Lo siguiente que hice en mi diario esa ma\u00f1ana fue llevar la cruz procesional para la liturgia cantada, mientras a mi alrededor el coro del King&#8217;s College de Cambridge, donde estaba investigando en matem\u00e1ticas, cantaba la versi\u00f3n del Miserere de Allegri. Entonces me di cuenta de que el mensaje que acababa de recibir era mi llamado a sostener la cruz de Jes\u00fas ante el pueblo de Dios, no solo por una hora una ma\u00f1ana de viernes de primavera, sino por el resto de mi vida.   <\/p>\n<p>Lo que me hab\u00eda atra\u00eddo primero a la fe cristiana, y luego a buscar la ordenaci\u00f3n, era el poderoso sentido que ten\u00eda del Dios que, en Jesucristo, me conoc\u00eda mejor que cualquier persona terrenal y, al mismo tiempo, me amaba m\u00e1s profundamente que cualquier ser humano. Jes\u00fas mostr\u00f3 ese amor ilimitado a lo largo de su ministerio. San\u00f3 a los enfermos, liber\u00f3 a los cautivos del mal, escuch\u00f3 las voces de los marginados, se enfrent\u00f3 a los autores de injusticias. Sobre todo, perdonaba a los pecadores, a menudo incluso antes de que hubieran reunido el coraje para arrepentirse.   <\/p>\n<p>Este era un Jes\u00fas al que quer\u00eda seguir y sostener para que otros como yo pudieran llegar a conocerlo, o conocerlo mejor.
