Responding to Covid-19 in Zambia

USPG supports Zambian Church’s fight against Covid-19

Support from USPG is helping churches in Zambia buy face masks and hand sanitisers – crucial equipment in preventing the transmission of Covid-19. In rural areas, where the choice is often between buying food or personal protective equipment, this is a lifeline.

USPG sent £1,500 from our Rapid Response fund to the Diocese of Eastern Zambia to secure these vital resources.

The Bishop of Eastern Zambia, Rt Rev’d William Mchombo said, ‘Due to Covid, giving in churches has reduced as many people have lost their jobs and church attendance has also dropped in many places. This has affected our ability to care for our communities. USPG’s contribution has allowed us to live and worship in a Covid-secure way.’
